My wife and I decided to get an electric car, as gas was well over 4$ a gallon this spring. My main reason was not that. I was tired of using gas stations. We went to Echo Park on Independence Blvd in Charlotte. Prior to visiting, I found the Kia I wanted to test drive on their site. The Kia EV6 is a high rated and safe vehicle. Someone had leased this Kia for 18 months. I bought it for 24.5K. The list price in 2024 was 51k. So if you are looking to go electric, find a 2 year old car that just came off of a lease. I have a 10 year battery warranty. at Echo Park you have to either buy in cash or use their financing. We had a ChargePoint station installed at our house, So we are on the grid. I have been charging it once every 7 to 10 days. When it gets near 40% I let it charge overnight for cost of 8$. The range is 325 miles. It is odd that Ziggy is more efficient in the city, as opposed to highway, This is due to the recharging that occurs when you take your foot off of the pedal. The Kia EV6 is not rated as one of the faster EV’s. I am a slow driver, Occasionally I will go 0 to 50 in a few seconds. I had to wait to have the car fully registered before I could install the Kia Access iPhone app. I can remote start and either cool or heat the car. This service is free for a few months. Our other car is a 2024 Subaru Forester, We will use the Subaru for trips to the beach and mountains. Ziggy will not venture far from Charlotte, NC. Why did we name the car Ziggy? My wife did, as riding in it is like a spaceship. I recommend spending the 40-ish dollars for Carfax. Ziggy only had tires rotated and safety inspections during her lease. I do recommend the Kia EV6. It works well with Apple Car Play, however my wife’s Samsung will hijack the audio. The only issue is many drivers want to race me.
Where I work they have EV charging stations, but reviews claim the charging is slow and expensive. I only plan to charge at home and at night, for the lower rates.

Before we got the ChargePoint, we charged at 128v. Overnight it got me about 20 miles.

We can get a $1100 rebate if I ever fill out the paperwork.
This is a 40amp circuit that Chargepoint uses 32, to avoid tripping the circuit.

For 6$ i has a custom magnet created.

We were advised by our electrician to upgrade our electric panel. Our house was built in 1985. We recently added an outdoor sauna, that also benefits from a newer, safer panel.

We recommend On Time Electrical. They installed our new electric panel and ChargePoint. They also ran the electric for our outdoor sauna, and fixed an issue with the electric to our gazebo and hot tub.
